Day two News of the day: Hanna Slomeová found that "her" child! We wrote about yesterday – she explained to everyone how, prior to the departure from Prague, some mother gave her a little girl to take care of. She longed to know who it was. Today they met. The little girl has now long been a grandmother and has her granddaughter with her, who described it all in a diary entry which you will find in the Wishes and Sentiments section. It's wonderful that the Winton Train has made it possible for people to find each other again after seventy years! Otherwise, the day was long. We left the hotel at six in the morning. We crossed almost all of Germany and it took us some ten hours. By the way, according to the current schedule an express train covers the same route in four and a half hours. But it was more pleasant in our historic train. Along the way we made two almost one-hour stops because the locomotive needed water. We travelled through the Rhine Valley where we made one of the stops. We had a wonderful view of the castles which tower over the river. Then we stopped right on the river bank and posed for a group photograph. Finally, we sang the Czech national anthem for the filmmakers – three times. During the day there was more napping than yesterday (due to our early start), but after lunch Dixieland was played again. It wasn't hot like yesterday so we arrived in Cologne well-rested and in the evening we had dinner at a local synagogue. Tomorrow we are going to the Netherlands where we will board a ferry -- and ahead of us will be good old England!
